Welcome to The Old Pottery Bed & Breakfast.

A little bit about us

Jonathan and I moved to The Old Pottery in 2005 when our first daughter, Honey was 2 months old. We were completely privileged and over the moon to be living in such a gorgeous place.

Although we were really happy here, the building was very run down, damp and dark and so in 2008 Jonathan began work on the refurbishment and extension. As with every big build it took much longer than imagined and we were away for 18 months. Exactly enough time for me to discover I was pregnant and to have the baby! So now we are back from living with our long suffering mothers and have decided to open our guest room as a Bed and Breakfast, which is great for me to be able to work from home with two little girls running about. There is still a lot to do in the main house and outside in terms of landscaping but hopefully it will all come together over the next few months.

Your room

We decided to make the room as self sufficient as possible so that you have your own private entrance and tiny kitchen, giving you the freedom to come and go as you wish and to eat whenever you would like to. For breakfast we provide a selection of croissants, bread, cereal, fruit, yoghurt and fruit juice. I will bring it around in the morning at 8.30am unless you request a different time.

The wood burner is yours to use and the wood if free. There is also underfloor heating in the bathroom to keep your feet warm after a bath.

If there is anything that we have forgotten that you need, please come and ask us and we will do our best to provide it for you.

The Nature Reserve

The woods are owed privately by a local farmer but run by the Cornwall Wildlife Trust. We are incredibly lucky to be the only house inside the reserve and we try and walk around woods at least once a day and act I suppose as unofficial wardens. The public footpath runs in front of the Cornish hedge at the front of the house and is the only way in and out of the woods. It has been great for us to get to know all the regular dog walkers and you will find a lot of people stop and chat. The woods can get pretty busy at the weekends; luckily people are generally good at not blocking our access. If you do have a problem please come and find us! If you would like to know more about the history there are boards in the woods.

When you leave us

If possible we ask you to vacate the room by 10am on the day of departure, so that we can get it ready for the next guests.

Many, many thanks for coming to stay with us, and we hope to see you again sometime soon.
